We may be a few days into the New Year already, but I just had to pop by and wish everybody a most excellent 2019.
2018 proved to be pretty pivotal for me – lots of life changes occurred, which in turn made me take a temporary step back from designing. But that’s okay, because I’ve come back with more gusto than ever. I have all sorts of plans and schemes, some of which require behind-the-scenes work that won’t see the light of day until the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020 – but you will definitely see mini-previews here on the blog and on my instagram feed.
Perhaps most importantly, at least philosophically, is that I’m also working on integrating Kelly G. Knits and my design work more with Dominion Fleece & Fibre and my local wool work. Using locally sourced, breed specific wools has really becoming a driving force for me since I started my breed studies in spinning, and I want that connection to be more harmonious with my knitting designs.
The most obvious, and immediate, change of course is a new website design! I wanted something simpler, more minimal, and I think I’ve achieved that with how it looks now. You might notice a few more minor tweaks along the way, but the main thrust of the re-design is done.
I also have lots of plans to continue my natural dyeing adventures, which I will detail here and over on the Dominion F&F blog. I’ve signed up for a class in March, which I’m incredibly excited about, so I can get some direction in how to take my experiments from last year and give them a really solid foundation.
2019 has a lot of exciting possibilities for me – especially as spring rolls around (which honestly, feels more like a new year to me than January 1st). I have many grand designs for shorter and longer term projects that I’m very excited to share with you.
But, until then, I hope you have an easy transition back into regular life after the hubbub of the holidays, and may this year bring you lots of opportunity to learn, live, and laugh.
