New Pattern Collection – CableStar Vol. 1

New Pattern Collection – CableStar Vol. 1

I’m elated to finally be announcing this release, because Knotions and I have been working on this for a while.

I actually began designing these patterns something like two years ago. They went through a lot of iterations so I could get them just right, and since spring Jody and I have been compiling, editing, testing, and finally getting the eBook ready to release. And it’s finally here!

CableStar Vol. 1: Galway Bay is a collection of five of my patterns, and nineteen(!!) tutorials by Jody. All of these patterns use traditional Aran motifs, cables, and texture to create three shawls, one cowl, and one toque. There’s a nice balance between large projects and smaller, quick projects in this collection, and the tutorials that show you how to work some of the more complicated or atypical stitches and instructions.

A few years ago I released Inis Oírr through Knotions, and after I had completed that I knew I really wanted to create a whole collection. It also gave me the opportunity to go back over Inis Oírr, and expand and update it – there are now three sizes included in that pattern (the standard large shawl, a smaller shawl, and a lap blanket). The Inis Meáin and Inis Mór shawls come in one size.

Inis Meáin Shawl

Inis Meáin is the smaller of the two, but has absolutely loads of cabling to keep your busy and interested. Knit with approximately 1290 yds, it has a central Celtic-style cable, flanked with smaller cables and loads of texture and twisted ribbing.

Inis Mór Shawl

Inis Mór is another of my typical large, squishy shawls, and features a big cable bordered plaiting and texture, and the large antler border is a particular favourite of mine in this shawl. Knit with 1730 yds of worsted weight, this shawl is the perfect winter project to keep you toasty warm.

Inis Meáin Cowl

The Inis Meáin cowl is a soft, warm cowl and can be worn more traditionally around the neck, or up over your head to keep the chill off your ears. Using 475 yds of worsted weight yarn, it’s one of the two smaller projects in the collection that can become a staple of your winter outdoor wear.

Inis Mór Toque

The Inis Mór toque is probably the item out of this whole collection I’ll wear the most. Available in six sizes, and knit with a cable for the brim that runs perpendicular to the main body of the hat, this toque is a really fun way to knit yourself a hat that’s just a little bit different than most toque patterns. This is a slouchy toque with a pom pom, and is a fun, quick knit (perfect for upcoming holiday season!).

These patterns are all available now – as an eBook and as individual patterns. Head on over to Ravelry here to take a peek.
